A run-through the basics of IP rights, the different forms, and strategies used in the traditional creative industry, as well as new opportunities emerging from technological convergence - including blockchain, NFTs, AI, and immersive technologies (VR/AR/XR). In particular, the Masterclass will explore: [covering the basics] -what are IP rights and why do we need them?; -the different forms of IP; -how to form an IP strategy (identify, protect, commercialise); -IP licensing 101; -typical pitfalls, and how to avoid them (particularly assignment); -the Achille's hill of IP; -IP in the different creative industries (music, video games and interactive entertainment, films & tv, animation, fashion, visual arts); -enter the metaverse & web3; -challenges and opportunities of blockchain integration and immersive technologies (from financing projects, and exotic marks, to using IP as a community-building incentive). The plan is to leave 15 to 20 minutes for the Q&A.
