Biography
I’m Daniel Nikoi Djanie, also known as Gilmec, an Art Director, Game Artists and Consultant with over 18 years of experience in Character Design, Story Art, and Visual Development.
Born and raised in Germany, I began my career in 2006 with the comic SANTAMAN, followed by freelance work in comics, children’s books, and advertisements. I later worked in Shanghai for Electronic Arts and other studios as an Animation Director and Senior Game Artist.
In Berlin, I served as Lead Artist at Wooga, directing teams and projects such as Bubble Island 2 and Switchcraft.
Since 2021, I’ve proudly supported THU with visual development for the THU Career Camp. This year, I had the honor of crafting the story and art direction for the 2024 THU opening movie Everlasting, blending my love for storytelling, collaboration, and art in a truly meaningful project.
Currently, I’m taking a hiatus from the game industry to focus on personal growth and recalibration in a rapidly changing world. On the side, I’m working on my next book for th German publisher Carlsen.
