Biography
Dave Bleich has worked in the Visual FX & Animation industry for over 20 years. During that time he has lent his talents to such films as The Fifth Element, Titanic, Oh Brother, Cast Away, Polar Express, Spiderman, Surf’s up, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 1 & 2, Hotel Transylvania 3 and Laika's “Missing Link. Specializing in visual scores and color scripting, Dave has served as an Art Director, Director of Digital Photography, Visual development Artist, Matte Painter, and Designer.
Originally from New York, Dave earned his BFA in illustration from School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, and MFA in computer graphics from Syracuse University. Dave moved to Los Angeles in 1996 and went to work at Digital Domain to work on The Fifth Element and Titanic as a Matte Painter. Later he transitioned to Sony Pictures where decided to switch from Live Action to Animation. After spending 14 years as a staff employee at Sony, Dave went freelance and started his own company “Not So Hip”.
Working both in Los Angeles and New Orleans, he is currently an integral part of the look development & color for “Spiderman - Into the Spider Verse”. His recent clients include Sony Pictures Animation, Google, 20th Century Fox, Laika, Locksmith Animation, and Sir Paul McCartney.
