Red Hong Yi creates paintings and installations that highlight symbols, stories, and traditions of her Chinese roots. By combining traditional craftsmanship and digital technology, she creates work that considers perceptual habits and preconceptions on the chosen objects and subjects.

Red graduated with a Master of Architecture at the University of Melbourne. Her work has been exhibited at H Queens in Hong Kong, the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, World Economic Forum in Davos, and Anchorage Museum in Alaska. Collectors of her work include JP Morgan Chase Bank and actor Jackie Chan. Her art has been featured on publications including Wall Street Journal, TIME, and New York Times. Sotheby's Institute has named her as one of the "11 art world entrepreneurs you should know", while Tatler has included her in their "Asia's Most Influential List" in 2021. Red was the creator for the cover of TIME magazine’s April 2021 issue, titled “Climate is Everything”, by rendering a world map made of 50,000 green-tipped matchsticks. In February 2022, she organized her first solo exhibition, “Memebank”, funded through the sale of six NFT artworks that were sold in both physical and digital forms.

She currently runs Studio Red Hong Yi and leads a team of five artist-designers to create commissioned and self-initiated artworks.
