Turning Your Art Into a Book
Description
As a graphic designer first and foremost, I’ve always had a deep desire to compile my artworks into a book. While working on video games, I found myself at a crossroads. My role as an art director, though rewarding, started to feel limiting as my passion began shifting towards another form of visual storytelling—photography. The urge to leave behind my established career and dive into the world of photography became increasingly irresistible. This transition wasn’t easy. I had no prior experience in publishing, nor did I know how to bring the idea of an art book to life. However, the challenge ignited a new spark in me, pushing me to learn and experiment with new skills. What started as a distant dream gradually turned into a concrete plan, resulting in creating the largest crowdfunded book in the UK and which was then surpassed by my second book. In this talk, I’ll take you through the journey I embarked upon to make my first published book a success. From having zero knowledge about the publishing process to the meticulous steps I followed to transform my vision into reality, I’ll share the strategies, challenges, and invaluable lessons I learned along the way. If you're an artist or creator who considered crowdfunding or publishing, this one is for you! Bibliography TO:KY:OO (2019) AFTER DARK (2022)
